Hi all,

Driving from Dunstable, Bedfordshire to Ilfracombe in North Devon on the way. Would like to stop once or twice on the way to break up the journey. Anyone got any recommended routes which would give us some fantastic driving roads (not amazingly keen on motorways) and some decent places to stop on the way?

Assuming a M1, M25, M4, M5 then A361 route as a base.

Cut off Bristol by going thru Bath (nice city to stop in), then Cheddar Gorge for a some nice twisties. Back on the M5 again.

Then turn off the M5 at Taunton and head onto Exmoor, lots of fun to be had up there, just look up some other topics. Or for a more direct route, turn off at tiverton but rather than take the A361 take the (great) tiny road that runs along the south side to south molton then the A399 up to your destination...
