Oh well - the traditional may bank holiday weather has confirmed one thing. There's definately a failed seal somewhere as the rear drivers side carpets are soaked again and this time I know it's not user error.

Isnt that something to do with the skin behind the door panel? The guy i bought mine from had it done the day before i test drove it.

Not sure - apparently there's a tech bulletin that VXR8's built before sept 07 may have underbody sealing issues.

The carpet is more wet at the bottom than the sides (which are dry).

You may find the leak is coming from the boot area, try checking the seals around the boot and check around inside.

Anybody have any numbers for VX cust tech services?

I've spoken to one group who have said there's no recalls or other notes for the rear carpets being flooded.

Does anybody have a tech bulletin number or reference for the pre sept 2007 cars not being sealed?

The bulletin that I have is headed "VXR8 - Water Leak Sealing"

Ref number 07-TI-37
Group C-49
Release date 19/09/07
Revision 00

I suspect that it is one of those jobs that the dealer would rather not bother with. A lot of time consuming faffing about and, if I have understood the info correctly, Vauxhall normally pays out for only 1.8 hours of labour

Well, had the r8 serviced at Picadors, first service, cost very reasonable but warranty issues are still ongoing, to be honest i have no problem with the garage they were all very friendly and polite but the centre console behaved itself all the time they had it, typical, and the rear carpets were dry when they looked at them, but before i came home I lifted the plastic sill cover and felt the soundprofing behind the drivers seat and yes, soaking wet!!!. it had been standing in the rain today so we have narrowed it down to a leaking door rubber or seal. Oh well have to book it in again sometime.........

Still, big smile on face as i drove back along M27 and A3, better than the corsa!!

at leastdoor leaks are *slightly* easier to track down. I did the ones on my old car (and there were quite a few) using a jet wash

Forgot to post this - I had the car sorted at Master Bodies in Luton (in short - all round stunning service - would 100% recommend)

Anyway - I got the tech note and it's quite a read. Lots of odds and ends covered in it.

To those with electrical gremlins on the ceter console with cars pre sept 08 - there are a number of water ingress points that go *extremely* close to the centre console wiring and the unit itself so may be worth a check for damp.

Mine has been ok since in the few monsoons we've had over the last month or so - fingers crossed.
