Driving lamps -alternative source
Discussion
On My 87 350i i have got a cracked lens on one driving lamp also the reflector is pretty rusty.
Would like to replace both lamps, have done a search and come up with cibie airport as the original ones fitted.
Can anyone replaced them with a different cheaper alternative (cibies are £41 each+vat del etc)
Any links or model i can look for.
Cheers stu

£41 incl. vat here, but I think you can buy the lamp only (glass & reflector)

Cibie Airports are used on several other cars as front fog lights which means they are the same except for the lense which has well 'textured' is probably the best way of putting it, but is not clear like the ones on the wedge. This will give you a good way of replacing the main part of the lamp. French cars such as Pugs and Renaults used them
With regard to the lense, keep you eye on ebay, they do come up regularly, i think they were regularly used on older cars.
Replaced both of mine this way much cheaper than buying new, just need to be patent!
