E21 3 series bonnet release broken off

the bonnet release mechanism on my new (see shed of the week lol) has broken off. anyone know of any thing i can do to get a replacement? if i ask a garage to fix this, will they be able to? a cheap way would be to tie string around the back on it and yank it, but obviously this is quick fix; i want a proper bonnet release mech.

E21 you say, not sure if franchised dealers will have this to the point of being certain as it's just too old.

thanks for that tip. after fiddling around with the bonnet release thing i have figured out a pretty easy way to get it open, without using plyers! it's hard to explain but for now i think i'm happy with it.
