This was my first attempt at videoing the boxster in action. Shamed it poured with rain for most of the day. In case anyone's interested, I've uploaded some clips to

www.btinternet.com/~john.r.prior/

They're both the same, except that the bigger one is "broadband quality" according to my video editing software.

Believe it or not, these clips were taken at the end of the day when the track was relatively dry.

Cheers
John

ps don't expect too much of the videoing, or the driving, as I'm not very good at either (yet!)

Cool. John. I've got a ton of footage from that day myself...but I haven't digitised it yet...

Boy..it really was wet, wasn't it? I've got some of the "official" pictures and you can see that my rear tyres are actually underwater up to the depth of the tyre in a couple of places.

Still..it was good fun. What group were you in...

Wasn't the track EMPTY towards the end of the day...

I arrived at 3pm to watch you guys and was amazed to see the number of cars leaving the circuit as I got there.

I did the evening session after the PCGB boys had left and it was eventually dry enough for full slicks British weather huh?

Ahh but you'll come next year won't you...and then the sun will beat down upon us...

Oh. And what about going to the Castle Combe event in Late October. Thinking of doing that as my last blast of the year...

Perhaps you'll grace us with your presence at the curry as well dear friend.

Er, and do you mind not driving and taxi-ing us all home as well?

Don, I was in the blue group. Not sure that blue was the right choice. Some of the other cars in blue were much faster than me, although I don't think I was the slowest. My rear tyres only had about 2 or 3mm of tread at the start of the day, so in the wet the car was tending to oversteer quite a lot. Are you going to Brands? I'm on the reserve list!

Enjoyed Brands very much. First session was a bit on the slow side - an older 911 was a bit of a moving chicane and wasn't moving over. I think someone must have had a word because the second session was great - very polite driving from all concerned - including the aforementioned 911.

Met Clubsport - nice to meet you, sir. And also Nic Doczi and a good few people from last year.

Took a mate round who also has a BoxS but hasn't ever done a track day. He thought it was a top laugh! Another convert methinks...

The day was very wet, circuit closed for one hour because of waterlogged track is probably why many cars departed early. I hear that the GT2 wasn't insured.

What you should have done, was stay for the evening event, sunny, dry, it even went to open pit lane format, really good fun.

Did another Silverstone GP evening yesterday, dry, no stoppages at all.

Last evening event on the GP circuit is next Thursday 4th Sept, 1.5 hours of track time for £105. As the light is now fading, they will only run from 17:30 to 20:00. Starting in two sessions, then to open pit lane. I did 105 track miles yesterday evening, an even £1 per track mile. Try working out how much the PCGB day cost per mile .. ouch!

GT2 not insured for the track day?! This seems too incredible to be true. How authorative (spelling?) is your source? Name's not Blair is it?

It's true. Word on the street is the guy is stumping 40k cash for the repairs.

That said, track cover for an event like that could easily be many thousands, so maybe he took a chance. He could probably afford to.

Well, I heard that scruffy sod who took out that shed of a VW never had insurance either. Fair play, he was driving like a bloody joyrider...

Yeah, the terribly skint and the terribly rich don't need to worry about insurance.... one has no assets to be sued for, the other can afford a pay out

It's the God fearing tax payers in the middle that cop it

Some need insurance just a little bit more than others tho 'eh Dom

Greg easy now, or I'll tell the whole world you scream like a little girl when a car goes just a 'little bit' sideways on track

Oh and ref scruffy I have it on good authority that the gentleman in question last brushed his hair in about 1988 and belives this therefore counts as well groomed, thus you should retract that libleous statement

Talking to a Porsche GT (a real GT) owner at the trackday on 27th Aug. Both of us were at the PCGB day when the GT2 got bent. Anyway this guy actually knows the GT2 owner (its the wifes car, but hubby was driving the car).
