Calling all Tuscan 2 owners to answer a simple question for me regarding the engine start button...

With my first engine start button, the surround used to light up green to indicate the engine could be started, and then the light would GO OUT once the engine was running. Hence the start button was not illuminated when driving along.

I have recently had to change the engine start button. It still glows green to indicate the engine can be started but does not go out when the engine is running. The green light is much brighter than the original (and much more so than the subtle lights around the window buttons) and remains on whilst driving. It's bright enough to illuminate the entire car at night and is very distracting - to the point I have to cover it with tape.

On mentioning this, opinion appears divided on which is the correct operation... I've been advised that my first button behaved unusually and that all others remain on. Can anyone please shed light on this (pun intended)?

Netnewt, starter button is lit green (they look like 2 led's) when the ignition is on, changes to red when pressed and back to green when released, the light level is similar to the other knobs/buttons on that panel, sounds like your old starter button was faulty.

DItto. I checked mine today and its does stay green and lit. Its level of brightness is the same as the window buttons etc none of which are Bright, but a sensible duller light.

Thank you Guys,

It is in fact 4 small LEDs, mounted two close together on each side which gives it that "lit either side" look.

So I conclude my new button is operating correctly but has a disgustingly bright and strange shade of green light - totally different from the original. Damn! :-(

I think I might try to form one good button from my old and new, using LEDs from old and electrics from new. The things we have to do for these cars!
