Us lucky people up north escaped the typical bank holiday weather with two full days racing! Two rounds of American Super Stock were run along with all the other PDRC Championship classes, plus Julian Webb made several passes in the Split Second Jet Dragster. My photo's can be found at http://richardsmith.fotopic.net/
Here's a sample:

^ Pete's biggest wheelie yet... just before the gearbox, prop AND axle decided to go bang and stop play

^ Dave Billadeau continued his good form taking runner up & win in the two Super Stock rounds

Cheers

I'm sure Julian Webb had re painted Split Second last time I saw it. I could be going insane however. My medication is making me hallucinate.

hey kirstie, no your correct, it was all vinyled, i think from one of petes designs...looked awesome by the way pete! but the vinyl didnt come out like they wanted, ie a matt finish rather than gloss so it was stripped off and will be done again. o_O
You're not going mad Kirstie.
The car had been vinyled with Pete's design at Easter, but by what I heard and I can't vouch for it being correct, the team was less than happy with the outcome and it wasn't long before it was being stripped. If as Adam mentions the problem was only the lack of gloss on the printed vinyl, this at one time was quite an issue but now its quite common to laminate the vinyl with a transparent material with gives a gloss shine more like simple cut vinyl or paint.
This is no reflection on Pete obviously who I think does an awesome job, but the finished product can only be as good as those who paint/cut/print/apply the design onto the car. I've been there before and its not a good feeling when you know the design should look awesome, only for someone who can't be bothered to measure up the car properly or take care with the application to make a total 4rse of masking the paint or cutting/printing the vinyl. Then with other projects you get the absolute opposite where it doesn't matter how complex you make the design the application is "spot-on" and any problems which come up in transferring the 2D image into reality and around curves are done with proper sensetivity to the design as it is on paper.
In the US where MMS does most of its work we have a few trusted suppliers who we know are capable of transferring artwork onto the car/rig/shirts etc as they understand that when multi-million dollar sponsors give the OK to a rendering, that is EXACTLY how the car should look. We've also now got a vinyl company in Sweden with whom I'm sure we'll be doing much more work in the future, as well as a very good guy we've worked with in the UK before which means we shouldn't have these sort of issues.
With any luck I'd like to see Pete's design back on the Webb-Jet soon or at least something not so "primetime"

Great time at york at the weekend. There were a lot of cars running npb and getting a better 60ft time due to haveing the burn out pads done and the track been prep`d all the time. I dont think anyone has a bad word to say about the grip up north when racing these days. And there were several cars running 9s. Keep up the good work.
