muddled security system

locked out of car the other day (t350)'53, called aa, didnt know about the secret way to get in then..managed to prise the driver window and hook the door open manually,of course set the alarm off,couldnt turn it off initially until it seemed to right itself. Managed to drive home, turned engine off, was then locked in..could only open the door with ignition turned on...anyway alarms preety scrambled etc,took it to leven and am awaiting the outcome..worse case scenero is i may need a new security system..anyone had similar problem and how much is a new one likely to cost by any chance?

This is often sorted by simply disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, fingers crossed won't require a new car alarm!

could be right, i was told that the aa man, when he used one of those portable battery charger devices, may have scrambled the alarm..but then again it seemed buggered before that..another thing the aa mentioned..we were parked near these huge telecom towers which at times can mess around with car security systems..,after you drive away out of 'range', the alarm should right itself?

Comms towers can cause interference. My old Chimaera had trouble in various places. Its new owner got stuck at heathrow, T1 drop off. Wouldn't de-immobilise until the AA truck got him out of the airport tunnel.
