Every wednesday from 6.30 onwards. Good, clean, pikey style fun. Went last week and was a giggle, I work in Ringwood so its only 5mins away from work, and its only £3 to get in!!

Any tuition for complete novices?

And what would be best to drift - a 200bhp MX5 or a TVR?

Neither. You would wreck them. More suitable chariots would be a £100 E34/E36/E30 beemer, various 740 volvo's, shedlike senators/carltons/omegas, any old school fords like granada's/sierra's. All the aforementioned (sp?) were there tonight plus more, and a fine spectator sport it is too. Incidentally, if you did want to have a go all you need to do is pay the £3 on the gate, have a car (Anything will do, there was an old 1.0 micra there when I got there being handbrake turned around the track very badly for all of, ohh, 5 mins before being stuffed massively into a wall and losing a wheel,) and just line up to have a go. TBH 95% of the people there are spectating, but you don't have to pay any more to drift, you just need a helmet. The car doesn't need to be road legal, taxed, MOT'd or in any way roadworthy and the drivers are largely comprised of the banger racing crowd which means caution thrown to the wind, and some awesome driving and car control. One of the best cars to watch is a stripped white Sierra with a welded diff, piloted by a 15yr old. Absolutelyu awesome tonight, I just love the smell of burning tyres and hot engines. Highlight for me was a 4.0 cherokee jeep on standard wheels with really low profile tyres doing stunning, smokey four wheel powerslides.......

That was amusing did you see him punt it into the central reservation at the end...on purpose ouch! Mind you hardly dented the P.O.S! But my favourite was last week when the 325i E36 Coupe hit the wall hard.... twice.... and it was his road car! Very very unlucky!

Matchams raceway, in between Ringwood and Bournemouth Airport. Th guy in the E36 last week had apparently sold the car for £1500, but was waiting for payment. He told the guy if he didn't hurry up and pay then he would go and drift it, which he did, before totalling it.....
Apparently he was in tears an everything, wouldn't you be though?

I'll be there next week. It was too much like rain for me to bother going to this week's one.
Like you say - just good, cheap, hardcore fun.

You can't get more pikey fun for £3!

Yes I think I'd definitely be in tears after smashing up £1500 worth of BMW, looked a nice one aswell! Mind you I felt a lump in my throat when a tidy 4 door 325i E30 had an altercation with the wall.... especially considering it was meant to be doing fastest lap not DRIFTINGrolleyes

Aaah I'm mostly healed now! hehe
Shall be a little more careful on the beach now!
Sounds good, I see you said it finishes at 10, which I can probably make as I'm on earlies in the morning. What time does it kick off?
