First of all, let me apologise profusely for not looking this up... I know the topic exists, I've read it myself, but the search here seems screwed from past experience. I'm headed back on the road in a couple hours as a long haul trucker but really need the numbers asap. Sorry guys... got the answer I need? biggrin

I limped the wedge over to a frame/alignment/suspension shop to have a look at my suspension/steering geometry problem. It's same sort of shop that'll grab a crashed unibody and stretch it back into shape.

They showed me the equipment to measure the car and the machine that moves the bent stuff back exactly as it was. It all looked high tech enough and I felt I could trust their compentency.

What really blew me away was the $450 price. It's seems cheap considering what they could charge a guy. They do have you by the short and curlies if you want to save a car.

It looks like I'll be wedging this summer after all. cloud9 The body-off-resto can wait!

Well, thanks for the info.

The frame specialist dude set off to work... seems he found some more problems.
Apparently, in the upper part of the rear frame there's a lot fo cracks that
cannot adequately be welded due to access problems.

Also, according to him, the front while though bent where I knew it was, has a slight
twist to the over all frame.

The guy basically said to me that without the body off, there's nothing he can do besides
short term band-aid solutions.

I went and rented myself a 20'x10' garage bay yesterday to have somewhere to lift off the body.
It looks like a summer of work and not of driving... but I knew I'd have to do this someday.

As I said in this thread previously... I drive long haul truck... I work over 220 hours a month...
I can put in the effort, but appreciate easy solutions. If there's any good body-off threads here,
I'd love a link to them.

TIA

Mike

I think we managed with 8 people in the end.

I think there is a Guy was a S series who did it on his own using straps.

use 4 x Jacks one each corner and lift the body about 1-2 foot.
The use 4 x heavy duty 5 ton ratchet straps. loop each corner to each wheel arch. and keep lifting the body using the jack's and ratchets.
once high enough remove jacks and roll car out from underneath.

be best to try and make car as light as possible so remove seats.
Also you need to remove boot and hood.

put some soft cloth on the body to stop the straps marking the paint work.

Mike: Got my other TVRs on the road. If you enjoyed the supercharged 6 cyl. then you will enjoy the 347 stroked 78 Taimar. I hear from other people about sightings of your wedge but I haven't seen it on the road since Langdon.
