Business or Professional Sat Nav?

I have just ordered a 330i sport convertible.

Is the professional sat nav worth the extra £500 or so? Any opinons.

I've got the Professional SatNav in my E60 and it is def worth the cash (although as with all factory fitted systems they take the mickey with the cost).

Don't go for tge Business system - you'd regret it.

As far as I know (and it may have changed by a dealer will be able to confirm), the Business SatNav is just an arrow and voice based system i.e. not the 3D map view you get with Professional.

I think they both to the same job but one of them (Proessional) is a bit more detailed with better graphics etc.

Also not sure the Business provides the traffic updates I rely on so much in mine.

i've just picked up a 520 with business nav, it now has a map and voice based system and from what i can tell is very similar to the pro system. there may be some functionality missing like traffic alerts, but on the whole its too close to call now. in any case if you are getting a 5 series or 3 series edition the price is signifcantly cheaper than pro system, i think its £1350 compared to £2500?

The only offer the Edition trim level with the crappy engines

pro nav is the one to have. . . bigger screen, better viewing options ie perspective. you get an extra slot to listen to a cd whilst nav is in opperation. lastly the interface is a lot smarter

Don't know how you are funding the car and how long you are expecting to keep it but I would suggest that you would see your £500 back in raised resale value.

The Nav system is IMO not a patch on an aftermarket TomTom style (Slow to program, only 5 digit postcode rather than full), but would I be correct in saying that you would also get I-drive? It gets alot of bad press but I personally find it very good. Is worth putting in voice command whilst you are there though as it speeds up use.

Plus the dash looks much better with that wide screen ftted

got pro nav on my 335d and its ste, If I was paying for it I would forget it and buy a tomtom for £200 , they are streets ahead imho.

I too have the Pro nav, and it really isn't that great. TomTom is much more intuitive.

I also have the Speed Camera POIs on the TomTom, so I guess I'll still have to use it.

not 100% sure but you can update the satnav and software on all of the older bmw range but not sure about the newer models but worth finding out coz i updated my e46 m3 software and nav for £35 3D display speed cams 07/08 maps the lot, i'd check out if you can do this on yours before you go and pay £500

i would really recomend the pro nav. . if you have bluetooth with telematics as well you will automatically get 3 years subscription to connected drive which boasts a whole host of benefits. check it out on the bmw website. . . . this is only available to bmw at the moment. .
