Chamonix: question for the locals

As we have a few Chamonix locals in the forum, I’d appreciate some advice if you don't mind.

I'm thinking of buying a place in Chamonix, very quick transport from City Airport To Geneva and Chamonix is only 85km or so from Geneva, so to my mind its an option for a weekend pad (and for holiday base - mtb on my doorstep etc).

For the locals: how do people get from Geneva - Chamonix. I was out at the start of May and it was a bit of a pain - two buses a day! This was obviously between the ski and summer seasons, so I'd expect more options in the summer / ski seasons.

I could obviously drive and park at Geneva airport (rates look pretty good) – but what other options do people use? Any advice much appreciated.

I think the cheapest and easiest option is a company called "chamvan" iirc they charge €40 each way and do it for a single passenger.
