ok, ive got an old toyota MR2, cant remember the exact age (will get it later) its the 1.6 model
well the car was running fine before X mas but as it is off the road it was left over the holidays outside.
it now wont start. well it wont even crank over
there is no power going to the ignition loom as far as i can see as there are no dash lights wen key is turned. however other parts of the electrics such as the lights and horn work fine. so posibly water has got in someware, but where, i dont know where to start

anyone got any idea what could be wrong?
if its gona be to much trouble to fix then i will just sell it for parts, but if posible i would realy like to get it going again as it was gona be striped and preped as a track day car

1st stop for me would be all the fuses. Then even though you say Horn etc are working charge up the battery. Left this long it could well be a bit flat.

yea im not that stupid

ive tryed with a jump pack and with a new batt, only the ancilerys work.

all fuses are fine, checked the box in the engine bay and the one in the front boot

i know for a fact that the boot has had a tendency to fill up with water due to a bad lid seal, the ecu is in there, but i have just had that and all the conections to it out and its perfect (ive taken ecu apart and checked all conections and there fine)
i wireing digram would be useful if anyone has one for the engine loom of the 1.6 MR2

im good with cars, im just not the best with electrics lol, i will take an old engine with a ditributor and float carbs over electronic ignition and EFI any day

i guess i could get it on a trailer and take it to a toyota garage and see if they can find it, i noticed the cable that plugs to a diagnostics machene in the engine bay

An old car like that will have limited diagnostics, and more than likely, the fault codes are accessible by you anyway, via a diagnostic connector.

You short 2 pins in the connector, and they usually flash any fault codes. Although in a case of a total non starter, such diagnostics are often useless, as its usually a "simple" fix. Relatively speaking.
