Le Mans to Cannes, plus parking tickets?

LM is going to be a flying visit for me this year, planning on arriving Saturday morning, watching the event, gets a couple of hours kip overnight in the car, then I have to drive to cannes on Sunday for a work event.

So, some questions:

Which Channel crossing should I get on Saturday morning to make the race start?
Does anybody have a spare parking pass, preferable in vert?
Does anybody know any particularly good routes from La Sarthe to Cannes? Or for that matter on the way back where I am more free to experiment I was thinking along the coast to Monaco.

Race start is 3pm so I would suggest 0400 crossing as the traffic is heavy with the locals coming in. Parking Green will be a good spot to kip in the car and close to the action too. If you can get a pass.

Youve got no chance of getting a ferry, if you do you will queue for hours to get any where near the track as it gets jammed cos half the roads will be used for the race....

I wont be getting the ferry, I'll be on the tunnel. Still plenty of crossings left.

Sounds like I might be better coming down Friday night and sleeping in the car than trying to get there on Saturday?

I'm doing a similar trip down south after the race- heading to St Tropez on the Monday. My plan is to head across(east) via Orléans and joining up with the A6 and then it's straight down from there. I reckon about 7 hours maybe a bit longer. I'd be interested to hear of any alternative (quicker) routes

Many times I've gone to Le Mans by getting Le Shuttle at maybe 23:00 on the Friday then driving to Le Mans arriving at around 04:00 local time and getting a kip in a (pre booked) car park. Easily doable. It's tough staying awake for the finish though ! Good luck.
