At lot of what gets posted is negative so thought I should make the effort to congratulate Garmin on their customer service.

I was bought an official Garmin (reconditioned) C510 for xmas and its been a great little machine. However, I couldn't update it via the USB cable (although I could update an SD card which I inserted into the sat nav). Other than that it worked brilliantly and didn't bother me at all.

Anyhooooows, I thought I'd mention it to Garmin who told me to send it back to them to look at and a week later I've just received a BRAND NEW C550 as a replacement. Considering this newer model has bluetooth, mp3 player and traffic built in I'm suitably impressed.

The only down side would be that they take up to 5 days to respond to emails and I had no idea that they were ending me a new machine until I opened the suprise package yesterday. So, communication aside they certainly were hassle free and very generous.

Was so used to other companies being obstructive that this made a pleasant change. biggrin

Mikey,

That's a really great post, and of course a nice result for yourself.

I'm in the market for a satnav at the moment, and honestly torn between the Garmin 760T, the TomTom 530T and the Pogo Drive.

It's posts like yours that help to provide the additional incentive take one option over another.

Nice one thumbup

Cheers Kinky, they do have a good reputation.

Plus they are only up the road from me (just outside Southampton) so it feels like a "local" product (even if they are probably manufactured in China!)
