Dear God this gets boring. Another stupid scheme focusing on speed, speed and speed and completely ignoring all other aspects of road safety. Yawn.
Still, this is on an official Council site and has the lovely option of adding your own comments. Time to redress the balance methinks.

What a plank

You will NEVER,NEVER,NEVER get the majority of motorists to abide by the 30mph limit. As long as daily rags like the Daily Mail continue to argue against them, the motorist ( who is generally thick when it comes to driving ) will think he/she has EVERY right to ignore this speed limit. My answer - Have a further patrol car about 300yards away to stop the speeding motorist, then make him/her watch their beloved vehicle being crushed into a mobile crushing machine. Result - driver devistated to see their beloved car instantly scrapped and one less vehicle in which to speed. Remove the cause!!.

David Marshall ,
Do you drive ? one day YOU WILL yourself be caught driving over the limit in an unfamiliar area , and what will you say when your car is crushed ??
sometimes its nice to get the bike out and go for a 150mph thrash ! [/quote]

That should make him spit his bovril out
