I'm a newbie Chimaera owner, so please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

Inspired by several YouTube clips I'm thinking about getting an ACT Cherrybomb exhaust. I have a standard stainless steel exhaust on my Chim and it seeems there's a great deal more noise and fury to be unleashed.

Is there anything I should know before abusing my credit card?

I don't understand your reply.

Why get cherry bombs? Or why abuse my credit card?

To which the answer is, why not?

Are sports exhausts frowned upon amongst Chimaera owners?

All in the ear of the beholder......!!

If you've ridden in a TVR with a "modified" exhaust and you want your ears/body parts assaulted all the time. Go ahead. Touring any distance will send you nuts.

If you will never feel the need to track-day or Sprint/Hillclimb the car, then go ahead.

If you really want to, IMHO, waste your cash on simpily more noise, then there's only the nut behind the wheel to consider.

From a un-modified (noise that is), but "used" TVR owner of some years.

I have them on mine. And I love it. Although sometimes it does wear you out (hangover). But after a short blat you remember why you love them and your neighbours hate you. From a modified (noise that is) owner of 4 months

It appears you can buy slip-on silencers, though they look a little odd.

Maybe I'll find a TVR with cherry bombs at Goodwood this Sunday and investigate further.

Cr4p!!! The increase in noise is mostly external and not a huge amount in the cabin. Cruising is fine, the real volume being under power!

Get it done - you'll find most owners carry out the mod which shows how popular it is!

This is my one on youtube, they were taken last year on a pretty crap camera phone so don't really give the full effect but they might give you an idea...!

For the record, mine is a 450 with the full ACT system from manifolds to tail pipes all decatted with the cherrybombs. These vids were taken when it was still running the 14CUX Lucas ECU, hence the large number of pops and bangs! I don't get nearly as many any more as I'm running an Emerald with it frown (which has also altered the sound a bit which is a bit strange!)

Anyway have a listen and see what you think ears I don't find it bad at all on the motorway and have done many miles on them since putting on the exhaust. Just turn the music up a bit and you barely notice! On full chat though it is sublime and does give the full assault as was previously said - really leaves a big grin even after a year! Roll on summer!

Please be aware that the Offords 'Cherry Bombs' are NOT cherry bombs - they are the Offords sports exhaust. These are basically straight through pipes.

I've got them, and I love them. Much better than OE. Just my 2p.

Thanks for your input guys.

Nick: Those were some of the clips I'd seen on YouTube. Sounds fab!

I don't have any worries with the neighbours and I only use the Chim on Sunday afternoon blasts so no real worries about practicality either.

I'll make some enquiries with ACT and Offords.

Thanks again guys.
