MGCC Silverstone International 13-15 June 2008

Ok, this is the next event I'll be attending. I entered my first race ever at MGCC Silverstone International last year, and was the only event of the four I started in my first season that I actually finished! ETA- a gear box failure, diff failure and driver failure (stalled on grid, couldn't restart it) were the issues.

I'm planning on being there from the Thursday evening, and should now be there until Sunday.

I was at the Oulton Park MGCC meeting on the 17th May, and there was quite a lot of action, particularly once the drizzle started as it became so slippery!

ETA some more here - So, I know one other from here is on the entry list... would be good to hear who's racing/watching and how preperations/other events are going.

Silverstone was great as the venue for my first race (and first time out on track apart from the ARDS!), sooooo much run off and width of track that you won't feel particularly worried by it, but I see your profile says you've been out on track so that should be no sweat for you.

I wasn't quite expecting the way everyone attempted to pass the novice all into the first corner in practise! Eeeek, make sure you have good mirrors and check over your shoulder before you turn in

I'll be keeping an eye out for the Metros then.

Welcome, Pete. It was my first race at Donington on Easter Monday, so I'm a newcomer too. You'll find us a friendly bunch, just ask if you need anything. Are you testing on Friday and why class D?

Yep, will be out on Friday morning. I should be there from about 7 on the Thursday night though might go home to sleep (it's that local, but I'll camp at the weekend so I can ).

Class D.
I've been trackdaying a metro for the last couple of years, & have completely rebuilt it for this year. I've used alot of the bits that I already had which don't like the regs. -eg singlepoint GTi wheels which don't fit over vented discs without spacers -which are not allowed in class B or C. Nothing major, or that will make me any faster, just silly little things that I can't see the point in spending a few hundred £ changing.

As I don't have the budget for a full season, points are irrelivent anyway.

I thought he'd be the first on here! I noticed his name on the entry list after I saw he'd been at Oulton with the MGCC.

So Jellison, how goes the preparation? Yours wasn't the triumph I saw missing a rear wing at Oulton was it?

I had a windscreen refused at scrutineering so had to get permissions to run without it and the hard top. Made my first wet race interesting. Couldn't see anything from spray and misting on my visor! I've got a plastic screen on order, hoping that it arrives in time! I might be making the trip back to work to collect it after the test session on Friday if it hasn't arrived before, or scouring the traders for a laminated screen if it's really late!! They're usually pretty good so I should be ok.

yes i think it's one of the few chances you get to drive the international circuit...
