Is there anything wrong with me taking stock images and using them in a brochure to portray an image of an organisation?

For example using a picture of an photoshopped HGV with our name on, when we don't really have one, or a picture of a huge warehouse, which doesn't exist within the organisation, it's not intended to mislead, just some fancy pictures smile

Interesting, I guess I meant more from a legal point of view, it really is just to fill empty space, our warehouse if fairly photo friendly, but when it costs £100 for a few professional snaps of it, it doesnt seem worth it as you can buy similar stock photos for £2-3.

I would totally disagree with that.

The amount of times I ask a customer if they have imagery already or do we need to get some and they come back with some self snap crap for me to work with.

If you want to look professional get a pro in - The difference is amazing and if your careful you can use the photos as much as you like. Completely change the level at which people view you.

On the point of stock - I'm no lawyer but I don't think there is any thing that means you can't unless you are being delibrately misleading - just be careful to choose decent stock that isn't too cheesy. Hosting companies are the worst for this they always have the same generic photo of a stack of servers and smily model in a headset answering calls - when ever I see that I just know its a spotty teenage in his bedroom.

Have you though about being a bit different with the imagery? I don't know what you do so it's hard to make suggestions. But few really bog companies with HGVs and warehouses have them on there litrature unless they are a warehouse and lorry factory. Think of something that would grab peoples attention, make them laugh. If fact showing you self as a big business could put people off.

Sorry for the essay.
