Hi Guys

Once again leaning on you lot for the answers that i cant work out for myself.

1.cant find my washers for my drive shaft bolts, are they plain, spung, schnorr?????

2. Anyone had any brake fluid weeping from the brake light pressure thingy, its only happening on one outlet, ive replaced the crush washer but still doing it. Have any of you ptfe'd these connections or are they just left bare.

Thanks in advance for your help again.

The washers are Schnorr type, if you are short of just a few then I have some spares I can send you, but not a full set. The leaking brake joint sounds as though there is a need for a new one, PTFE probably not a good idea in a hydraulic system, and as it is you means of avoiding there inevitable twit pulling out in front of you, replace with new if possible.

It may be the switch is running out of thread before it actually crushes the washer. Take the washer out and try the switch in the fitting. If it goes all the way in then the washer should have been working. If it does not go in then try two copper washers.

My four way hydraulic "splitter" had not been finished properly. There was a bit of brass from the casting that had not been filed off and this destroyed the sealing effect of the copper washer. A little careful filing soon had things leak proof.

Had the same problem on Grahams car as we couldn't get the bloody think to seal, had to refinish it carefully with a file.
Don't use PTF tape.

Why not? I was advised to use PTFE tape and it has never shown any signs of failure in 11000 miles.
