New Factory supplied Brake Light Switch

Like others, I'd contacted the factory because my brake lights would only come on under hard pedal pressure. I recieved from them a replacement switch that looked the same and even had the same stamped markings. It was from a different batch though, thought to be better.

Adrian, my co-builder rigged up a test device to measure the pressures required for activation....the results are in.

Exactly the same!!!

I'm now gonna deviate from Factory spec on this one and go for Steve's adjustable solution, to tailor the switch to my bias settings and requirements.

Now Steve, I've had a search, but can't find that part number. Do you or anyone have it?

The switch is part number PMN 10AE 1/4P STL

You will then need an adaptor to get from ¼ BSP (or which ever thread you choose as the switch comes in a number of threads) to the thread in the brake junction.

I can’t remember what size it is but have just looked in a catalogue and a switch there is offered in three thread sizes two of which (M10x1 & 1/8NPT) are available as options on the new switch.

I think it is probably 3/8UNF which is why I had to get an adaptor.
