Driving back home tonight having just helped Miss Notax wash and polish her S2 ready for its first Seloc outing at Goodwood tomorrow - and we hit a deer at 60mph eek

Miss Notax understandably upset - while I can't believe how lucky we are. Miss Notax didn't have time to react at all - the deer's head hit the front wing - smear marks and fur by bumper but no damage, but unfortunately it's head got stuck in the vent in the rear wing... Car is driveable so we should be at Goodwood - just not quite as pretty as she was cry

Wow yikes Glad to hear you're ok and there doesn't seem to be much damage.. so often these little incidents can turn much nastier. Never mind, car's repairable smile

Thanks smile

I am gutted.... I didn't spot it - the first thing I saw was it's head by my wing mirror eek

The car unsurprisingly has some damage. Can anyone recommend a good place for bodywork repairs on the south coast?

Fibreglass Services (www.fibreglassservices.co.uk) are pretty good if you don't mind Miles' interesting approach to customer service.

ETA: Well I've used them for servicing, never for fibreglass repairs. Someone else might have actual experience of their fibreglass work.

Ouch, that's nasty, my Uncle hit one just before Christmas (we told my nephew he's killed Rudolph, lol) and totalled the front end of his Astra Estate (luckily a company car), nasty shock though.

Sounds like a lucky escape, althought probably doesn't feel like it. A friend hit a deer in a Volvo 850 once and wrote the car off!

Used to live out in the stick in Somerset and had a few close encounters with deers, never hit one bit once slid down the road sideways for about 150 metres and ruinned a set of tyres when I swerved round one which jumped out in front of me eek

Thanks!

The deer got after after the accident but I don't think it would have got very far... Smacking against my car and getting caught in the rear vent must have given him a fair old headache frown Not that I was actually that sympathetic towards the deer last night when I saw my car furious

Hey ho - I guess the car can be fixed and I agree that we're pretty lucky to have driven away with us and the car (mostly) in one peice. If the deer had been a foot to one side it would have gone straight through my windscreen at 60mph....

Thanks!

It was actually just outside Romsey - couldn't believe it! Someone has recommended a garage in Salisbury for getting it fixed, so it'll take it up there this week and see how much it's going to cost to fix.... frown

Just used Sportomotive in Salisbury to repair damage to front lower "winglet" to the side of the number plate - a slice off a 9" plastic drain pipe was kicked up by a lorry's tyres and bounced down the road towards me. Could see it coming and surrounding traffic and steep bank meant there was nowhere for me to go; lucky it didn't cause any more damage. Still felt gutted, as it was only my second trip in the Elise! Any way, Cos and his team have done a great job.
