Hi all. I had a post removed for mentioning the ctf forum. I wasn't trying to promote it and like many people use both forums, it's just that someone asked where all the drunks were so I simply suggested they might be over there.

My question is this, Is there a policy to remove any mention of ctf now? I can understand if people are banging on about it and providing links all the time but I didn't think that was the case (any more). I know people mention other forums frequently is ctf regarded differently?

Anyway, I'm sure the internet is big enough for both and PH isn't exactly short of people. Apologies to the mod concerned (who I have a lot of time for) and thanks for the email he kindly sent me when he removed it.

Its their strict calvinist background.
Here its all sobriety and fizzy drinks.

Yonder its bolly & crisps in gorvids house, a far cry from the parties long into the night when ted played 'mein host'

As you say, the internets big enough, just toooo big for some people here to moderate to their own strict standards!

Could you go by threshers please, we need some cocktail umbrellas

So if the mod who removed it emailed to explain why, why are you posting this?

Just to stir the st?

How very grown up.

No not at all.

I was just wondering if it is a policy to delete all mention of the site. I certainly don't mean to start any kind of silly anti PH or pro whatever thing. Yes I was emailed but I wasn't sure if it was just the mod who had got fed up last night and deleted it or a new policy.

Please feel free to delete this thread if it causes any problems. It certainly wasn't my intention. I'm not naming anyone or trying to single people out. As I said, I have great respect for the mod who deleted it but was wondering if this was a new change.

Sorry if you are offended by my question Plotloss, perhaps you should just delete this if you feel it causes problems.

Cheers.

I just dont know what you hope to achieve, it doesnt offend me at all.

FWIW I wont remove all references to CTF, doesnt bother me at all.

But the mods all have different limits.

So if you mention it and someone removes it then thems the breaks, essentially.

Its only on very clear cut points we all agree, where there is a level of interpretation required then naturally everyones interpretation will be slightly different.

Cheers. I was just wondering that's all.

Feel free to delete this thread as it seems that any mention of ctf sparks an anti PH sentiment which isn't my intention at all.

It's strange isn't it. Maybe it's rosey specs. I quite like that recent mars bar ad. That had a good feel to it. Whatever happened to the Hamlet adverts though?

Think theres room for more than one site though myself. PH is getting quite big now. Other sites I can think of are still a bit limited in terms of depth, this whole thing just allows people who want to be together, to do so. Not that I post enough to matter, but I'm gonna try to cope with both if I can.

I removed the post, and I'm quite happy to admit as such.

I was wavering on deleting the whole thread - but I didn't.

I emailed the poster to explain why, as I felt it was inappropriate. Job done.

The other forum has a policy not to mention PH, has a lot of very strong anti-PH sentiment expressed (although not recently), and the core membership are anti-anything that's PH. I'm not sure using PH as a recruitment vehicle is the right thing to do - especially as said forum wishes to stand on it's own 2 legs.

And Rich, for the record - strict standards and I don't go together rolleyes

K

ETA: I don't remove all references to said forum - only those that I deem inappropriate for whatever given reason. I don't hide behind any anonymod; I come clean and email said poster to explain why - so I try to be honest and open - which is obviously still not good enough for some people. Damned if you do, damned if you don't! And if anyone is never happy with anything I've done - then please take it up with Garlick.

I think this could do with a little clarification, if I may...

Some members of CTF feel themselves to have been disgruntled by PH - usually due to modding/banning - and have expressed their feelings. The majority feeling, however, is that using CTF to moan about PH doesn't have any positive result for either forum or its members, and so by general consensus it is not talked about (although with a large membership common to both sites, passing references are inevitable). To say that the core membership are "anti-anything that's PH" is, I feel, inaccurate - it's more a feeling that PH is irrelevant, there may be many members in common but the two sites are separate and unconnected entities, the "said forum wishes to stand on it's own 2 legs" is really the main point.
