I need to top up the oil in my 328 GTS.
The owners manual states Agip SINT 2000 SEA 10W40
I have some Castrol TWS Motorsport 10W60 synthetic oil that I used on my previous BMW M3 (E46).
Would this be OK to use to top up the oil.

The last service used Shell Helix 10W40.

I am thinking that it would be better to go out and get some Shell Helix 10W40, but if I could use the castol 10W60 it would mean I could use it up.

Thanks

Mark

In my 308 I use Agip 10W40 fully synth but am sure the 10w 60 would be fine to top up with

It'd probably be OK for a top up but 60 weight oil is a good bit heavier than 40 at operating temperature so you wouldn't want to use too much of it. Castrol Magnatec 10W40 (or any similar decent semi synthetic) is a usually good in 308s & 328s. However, if the Helix is a full synthetic then I'd stick with that.

I would suggest you buy a decent 10w-40 as a 10w-60 may bit overkill, a little top up would be ok, but it would be best to wait and get a more similar oil.
