interior petrol fumes

I've noticed a the smell of petrol coming from the rear of the interior that is very noticable when first entering the car when left for any period of time,the smell seems to disapear once the car has warmed up (evaporating I think) I've checked the tank and the fuel filter but can't find any dampness or leaks.The smell seems to disappear once the gauge shows 3/4 full.Anyone any ideas? is there a breather or other filter I can check? Any help much appretiated.

Mine smelt really bad, then I noticed it was damp.

The tank on mine had split

I believe the pipes around the back of the tank can go, it maybe one of those.
