Hi all,

Been away down the North Wales coast this weekend and had a couple of encounters with mobile speed cameras.
The first one was at the top of a hill pointing down the hill. I drove past it, down the hill and think I may have been about 5-10 mph over the limit. Do they gun cars going away from them or is it just the ones coming towards them?

Number two encounter was going over some nice clear roads until I got stuck behind two ****ing caravans in convoy. I had two motorbikes between me an the caravans. We all approached a nice safe straight and bikes and me passed the caravans. By we had got past we were all possibly a little over the limiteek As soon as we were past the bikes and me all saw the camera van and slowed up. Can they gun three things in very quick succession?

Any information would be good so I know how much to dread the postman for the next couple of weeks!

Cheers Ed.

First one yep I'm pretty sure they can.

Second one, if you're all together driving at the camera then you will be unlucky as bikes aren't good targets without front plates.

May be able to get away with it with them being in the field of view of the camera, no clear reading achieved.

Pics taken from behind, definately........ Mrs Bud just accepted 3 points in same situation.

2nd point not certain, but when I viewed the pics online of the above incident they had 4 images of her car.
So they're quite likely to have nabbed you mate.... Doubt the bikes were obscuring the view the whole time!

Really hope they didn't get you though..... are you in a position to accept a possible 6 points?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya

Bud

Have had a clean licence for 12 years of driving until this weekend so six points wouldn't be the end of my driving. Just really annoying especially the second one as I was only speeding to get past the caravans safely and quickly and the police were sat on a road where there certainly wouldn't have been any children etc. There probably wasn't even a house within 5 miles. grumpy

well as you say, you'll know in 2 weeks, as if I remember correctly, the vans etc have to send out the "nip" (notice of intended prosecution) within 14 days.

It's worth going onto the "speed, plod and the law" forum,on here, and seeking some advice as to how you might be able to avoid the points. If it wasnt for that forum,i'd have points on my licence right now!Theres some really helpfull people on theresmile

To be honest I was in the wrong and should have realised I was in a 30 and not a 40 limit. It's a bit annoying when the 30 limit is a mile out of the town with no buildings in sight though. If the second fine lands on my doorstep in the next few days I might start looking for help.

I asked them to show me a picture of the car and driver,as i couldn't remember being at the place and time the offence was committed. They refused to send a picture, despite me offering to be as helpfull as possible.Basically it got batted around for a while before they gave up.The point being they simply couldn't prove it was me,and i was trying my utmost to help,if only they could show me a picture of the driver committing the offence in my car, then i could identify who it was.The trouble is,they often have either no picture at all,or perhaps a blurry black and white one of the back of someones head!
