Sell or strip?

Hi guys,

I have a 1988 S1 thats been kept in a garage for two years as ive been living in Asia. Family has grown considerably meaning its got to go.

I read recently on here that someone had spotted an old S going on ebay for not much money and sudgested buying it to strip for parts.

As i see it, it would cost both time and money to put her on the road to sell her for what she deserves as a price?

So then, Strip? or Sell?

It would be such a shame to see such a machine reduced to donor parts.

I suppose it depends on the state. If the car would pass an MOT or could do for a small amount I would sell it on and hope that somebody would buy it that has the time and money to bring it back to a decent condition. If it needs major work to get it back on the road, then maybe spares is the way to go, but as we have seen on here over the years, there are people around who are prepared to spend a lot of money on full rebuilds.

Mine is a 1988 S1. I deliberately looked for a 'dead' car to bring back to life as a retirement project and I bought a car in circumstances that sound very much like yours except that it had been off the road much longer. Mine will be back on the road very soon. Dont strip it, offer it for sale. If it is a complete car someone will enjoy it. Dont let a TVR die unnecessarily!

Can we see some pics?
Wheel it out the garage and give it a good wash it will work wonders.
Look at the top of the forum under useful links there are a couple of options for posting pics.
External and interior pics would be good and if you're feeling really clever some chassis shots underneath especially the tubes near the wheels.

If its been kept dry it may not be too bad.

hi i was faced with the same thought i posted on here and was advised to rebuild it i know you dont have the time for that but if you look into what the parts are worth its much better to sell it as a car and not parts and probably a lot easier best of luck
