I'd appreciate some advice on this before I go to the stealer if anyone has a moment.....
I started my 04 Z4 3.0 yesterday for the first time in a week or so and after I turned the key I heard a deep buzzing sound, a bit like a ship's hoote, from the back of the car which stopped after a few seconds. Car started ok, noise restarted with it. stopped when I switched off and reoccurred when the car had been switched off for a few mins, but not when restarted straight away.
Should I just book it in for a new fuel pump, or is it perhaps a common issue and causes no problems - maybe lack of use? No warning lights, car has done 14k.
Grateful for any ideas, thanks

There are mentions of fuel pump problems on the Z4 forum http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/
If your lucky enough to have a warantee I'd be inclined to get it fixed, it shouldnt make any abnormal sounds other than a slight high pitch whine like most fuel pumps do.
If out of warantee I have a feeling it will be expensive as they have to drop the fuel tank to get at the pump from what I gather.
