Monaro VXR Brakes
Discussion
I'm currently running around in a VXR8 while I await a new engine for my Monaro.
I have to say the brakes on the VXR8 feel far superior in feel and performance and its got me to thinking............my Monaro needs new brakes and the garage are trying to get this done under warranty and they are quite confident that it will not be an issue, but my question is do the VXR8 brakes, disc pads and calipers etc fit the Monaro? Or would I be as well going the AP route.
Thanks in advance.

VXR8 brakes are not compatible with Monaro. If you have to fund the brake upgrade yourself to a 6 piston package, do a good web search. I have noticed huge differences in quoted prices.I have to say the brakes on the VXR8 feel far superior in feel and performance and its got me to thinking............my Monaro needs new brakes and the garage are trying to get this done under warranty and they are quite confident that it will not be an issue, but my question is do the VXR8 brakes, disc pads and calipers etc fit the Monaro? few demonstrators around for 26-27k as well but you'll get crappy trade in deal. Of course you may also miss out on a few of the "teething" problems as hopefully they'll have been spotted and dealt with already.
Oh good. So you're already buying demonstrators for a lot less than I can. In fact for the same as I would pay for a 40,000km 2nd hand one. f

king great.
What are your fuel prices like over there?
king great. It just really pisses me off that we pay obscene prices for Euro cars and then Australian cars are cheaper in England than here.

Around $1.60/litre and increasing daily. I run a deisel van for business at over $1.80/litre. Factor in the lower wages here and we're not really much better off than you are for fuel prices.

Surprising the V8 motors don't depreciate more quickly for you. I'm sure the real/perceived running costs are the reason Vauxhall struggle to shift the cars over here.

I get the impression that vehicles depreciate much slower here in general. Certainly anything a bit out of the ordinary. For example I paid $42K (£20K) for an early (late04) VZ CV8. I'm hoping that in 2 years I will sell it without losing too much. Many thanks for your comments.
As the brakes are being done under warranty I wonder if it would be possible to negotiate with them and have the AP's fitted instead?
There can't be that much difference in price?
I think I've heard of folks doing this, am I correct? And if so was it a lot of hassle?
Thanks again
