Hello smile

I am seriously thinking of getting my early S2 seats re-upholstered as they are getting increasingly uncomfortable on anything over a 10 minute journey! They're a blue leather, and whilst the bottom of the seat is padded the back has no padding AT ALL meaning your back just crunches into the metal (or whatever it is!) behind it... Not comfy grumpy

I don't want to get new seats as I really like the look of these ones, so would it work if I just got an upholsterer to pad out the back? I assume that they could get to the centre bit by undoing the seams at the side (as opposed to cutting anything up)? Anyone done this before?

We went to Goodwood yesterday and we were both hobbing by the time we got back!

the Lotus trim shop will do them however you want - they are a fixed price...the new Probax material really helps and is genuinely orthapedic - the shape of it ensures you are in the correct position for your back etc ...Ive done 10 hours a day in them for many days, only stopping for fuel, and they were great

At the risk of sounding really thick, is the probax stuff the padding or the material? Would I lose the leather centre panels?

I want it more padded, but them to look the same as the same pale blue leather is used in the door panels and the centre console... They really are a killer though, I fractured my coccyx about a year ago and they're not doing me any favours frown

Or maybe I should just eat more pies so i'm not so bony...!

I got mine retrimmed by the trim shop into Probax. They give you a choice of the patterns you can have, so feel sure they could keep the existing one if required.

Makes a world of difference, much more comfortable & the seats look brand new. Do it!

Probax is the padding - do a google and you should find some info on it, you can have whatever deisgn you like still and embroidery etc ..if you need more padding in a particular area then just specify it

Thanks guys smile

Right, i'm going to have to contact the Lotus Trim Shop and get some new seats I think! I take it that I can find their contact details on-line?

I have never known seats with LESS padding than mine!!

You can't contact them directly, you need to go through a dealer. Give Bell & Colvill parts dep a call 01483 281000, Andy there is very helpful. They will also lend you a couple of loan seats whilst yours are being retrimmed.

I thought that was reasonable...about £350 a seat is what Ive heard of before ...bear in mind the new seats are approx £800 each ...so thats £450 for a plastic shell and £350 to trim it

Heated seats ?? Just fart..

Does seem a bit steep, but the trim guys do a fantastic job. The seats come out looking amazing. There was someone selling a pair of probaxed seats on the classifieds for around 350 a pair the other day if getting them retrimmed is a bit too much.
