Wing Mirror Problems - Spare part needed

I need some help sourcing the little plastic bit that attaches the wing mirror glass mould to the actual wing mirror unit.

For those who have done the wing mirror mod you probable know what I'm talking about (I did mine a long time ago but my mirror keeps getting knocked), there's 2 plastic bits which have a ball and socket connection to the wing mirror glass and go into the mirror with a little metal springy thing inside them.

Basically one of my plastic bits has snapped and the metal springy bit has been gone, Vauxhall Motorbodies want me buy a complete mirror unit and then paint it (not cheap ).

Must be a way to get that little plastic bit.

I need an o/s mirror for a 56 monaro. mine has snapped the base where it swivels..or if someone has a broken one with that bit ok, i might attempt major surgery!!

I have a new unpainted drivers side unit if that helps. It is minus the motor assembly so won't solve the original problem but might help with the last post. Let me know.
