Injury sustained.... dislocated toe!!



Marc Gené était au volant de la Peugeot Hdi FAP #7 quand, à 14h51 le dimanche 1er juin, la direction de course du circuit des 24 Heures du Mans annonçait un accident affectant le prototype du pilote espagnol, actuel co-leader du Championnant d'endurance Le Mans Series.

Abordant les virages Porsche du circuit des 24 heures ( 13,650km) à plus de 200 Km/h le pilote Catalan perdait le contrôle de l'arrière de sa 908 et ne pouvait éviter l'accident.

Fort heureusement pour le champion espagnol, après avoir été transporté dans un premier temps au centre médical du circuit , les médecins de l'hopital du Mans ne diagnostiquaient pas de blessures susceptibles de compromettre la participation du pilote aux prochaines 24 heures du Mans les 14 et 15 juin prochains . l'équipe Peugeot Sport n'a pas fait de commentaires sur les raisons de cet accident.

I don't know if he is either exceedingly lucky for walking away with only a busted toe, or very unlucky for binning it in practice. Either way a spectacular crash, glad the driver is ok.

One of my lecturers was apparently working with the team in the pit garage next to the peugeot team when it happened. He's been going back and forth between the university and the event for a while now to help with the mapping of the engines (I think Courage, but I could be wrong).

Ravell I had a feeling you were going to say that. Im a final year Automotive student just finished there. Good old JP cracks me up with his stories. Are you heading to Le Mans this year with some mates then? If so sounds like there will be a good UH turnout.

Im going with around 8 Cars Mostly UH people. One of my mates said he spoke to you the other day? He has a Green E36 328 Sport similar to yours. No formula student this year for me. I was part of Class 1:200 when we won back in 2006. But couldnt find the time to join this year.

I live with one guy from class 1 this year and one guy on the Hyrdrogen team though, so you may know them. In fact I dropped one of them off at Formula Student earlier in the week by the automotive shed and am I reckon it was your beemer parked up at the end all stickered up?

Yeah, I spotted his car stickered up and recognised it from the PH thread about it. I've seen your Celica drive past a few times as well, really nice!
