Rear brakes, yup, hence my pain and suffering and whinging and whining
The discs and pads are fine. But, at MOT one side was got for low effort (almost no effort) and the other side was got for sticking on. They're a bit of a mess and I think really need replacing, now that I've had a look at them when off the car.
What to replace them with, well, there lies a question. A remanufactured, replacement pair is £250
which makes me ponder what else is around. I haven't got past the pondering stage yet, any suggestions on a postcard please....

Upgrading the rear brakes without upgrading the fronts (assuming you haven't already) might be a tad destabilising of the brake balance. Of course, upgrading them both will up the bill more than a 'tad' - Streaky

Still, victory was mine, eventually. Both calipers are now removed, now to ponder what to replace them with.........more of the same or something else.............
I have been looking at this and the shock is the cost. There is a racing upgrade but at around £1000 a side. I decided that it was a tad expensive. It is easy to replace the callipers but you end up with no handbrake which is a bummer. I looked at fitting a Ford type calliper but it is smaller and there is no way short of calliper removal of replacing pads.
The disc and calliper are pretty big anyway and with an adjustable balance kit, the balance with a big front upgrade is pretty good.
Ah, should have guessed you'd already had a look at this Steve, cheers for info
At that price I think I'll pass
I was just hoping there might have been an upgrade around, before spending my cash on more of the same. Admittedly new ones will work and mine barely do, so should be better in any case
I'm waiting on a response from a company on price and availability of any upgrades, see what they say but I think I could be staying standard........
Very true Streaky, new front ones would prob be in order too as still the originals. Although they work I would think braking could get interesting. Not that I've driven the car enough since I bought her to know what her brakes are like.........

hmmm, guess I'm staying standard then. I'm hoping the local Motor Factors were right with the price at £60 each + vat!! That's half the price I've got elsewhere. I'm naturally suspicious, find out on Monday though..........
Well, as I'll be saving £120 I can fully justify taking the bike on a track day at Croft :-)
