I used to use Fuchs ATF4000 in my T56...cheap and cheerful, and shifted perfectly.
When I got my new box, I used Mainlube's 154 solid boundary gear oil....
Its mega expensive, and supposed to protect the box better than anything else out there...
TBH, I cant tell any difference between it and the Fuchs in terms of user operation lol.

define problem?
It's a known issue that it can be loud esp at tickover.

It has touble in the lower gears, it goes from 1 - 2 but with a hefty jolt, itsometimes does this between 2-3 and even more so in reverse. It does not change smoothly its a bit like someone hiting you from behind (well kind of! ) Vauxhall has done some tests to make sure there is no water in the gear box, there was not so now they are changing the oil, but we now find out they cannot get the oil, Vauxhall dont yet have any good eh!!!
oh i did forget to mention it is an auto box. I am beginning to think my car has a curse as it does seem to be garaged with Vauxhall more than it is garaged with me!!

Is this like a sort of rattle, that when you depress the clutch and put it into gear stops?I had similar sounds on vectras etc when the thrust bearing needed looking at. Got a similar noise on the 'Ro and Im just hoping its a normal noise. lol

Not quite - at idle with the car in neutral and clutch pedal up it makes a small rattle. Press the clutch and it goes away. Theres a tech note to say that the idle bearing can rattle. Apparently TADTS.
