My starter button always turns the ignition on, but very often wont turn the starter motor. The car's got a second starter button (must have had the fault for a while!)which works every time. So it must be either the switch, the wiring or perhaps the immobiliser?
The secondary starter button must be wired straight to the starter because it works the starter with the immobiliser in action. Anyone experienced this fault?

Yeah funnily enough i came across this on a customer's car .. purple cerbie with lovely light conversion and big exhausts .. know anything about it? nice car actually

Never did get to the bottom of it and hours spent tracing electronics faults are expensive (time consuming) so fitted the switch so the woner wouldn't get caught out away from home, the black switch worked for 99% of the time, just that one occasion when you need to be somewhere and the car wouldn't start .. doh!

Yeah that purple car sounds nice.
It didn't happen when I bought the car, but started a few weeks ago and now it's really giving me some stick.

Funnily enough have just had this recently.

On a few occasions, like you said igintion comes on fine then second press wont fire car. No reason for it but happens about 1 in 10 times. I tend to switch off and then re and de immobilise the car again. Sometimes you miss the immob window by a few secs. Its only 10-15 secs I think.

Also have found that my battery is a little low and if thats the case theres isnt enough juice in it to turn the engine.

However if you jump start it it fires as soon as you touch the button.

I would guess its just a glich but is annoying/embarrassing when it happens, especially when your starting it to let someone hear it.

I wonder if its something to do with the heat recently !

I just find it strange that the button works to turn the ignition on, but wont start the car? Must be a wiring fault?
