Anyone know how much BM dealers charge to adjust headlamps

I'm off the Europe soon and have read that I need to have my headlamps adjusted. They are the bi-xenon's.

Before I ring my local dealer, would be useful to know how much anyone else paid to have it done.

An arm... possibly a leg.

Seriously, why not have it done at a local garage or specialist as it'll be much cheaper? Simple job really. You could even try yourself if you know what angle they need to be at. (Face a wall at a known distance and work out the angle of the beam by looking at the height of the light on the wall compaed with the headlights, from there use pythagoras.)

Depending on model some cars have a built in adjuster. Remove a cover, move a lever on each side job done.
what moodel is it?

It's a 335d coupe

The full procedure is in the handbook.In brief remove convers on top of headlights move small lever to opposite position for drive on right. reverse on return. time taken approx 5 to 10 mins for both, cost zero.

People give BMW garages a bad name, but when I used to have an E36 the headlights could be adjusted manually by taking them out and putting them in the other way round or something.... anyway I went to my local BMW garage to get it done. They did it free of charge and all the time I got to dribble over the M3 csl they had for sale. Perfect

As KenD say it's in the manual...Mine's got the bi-xenons and you can do it easily yourself. As much as us blokes hate cracking out an instruction manual it's probably worthwhile!!

Wow, they never usually do anything for free.

Thanks everyone. I rang my local dealer and he said do it myself - so they're not all robbing b******s. Looking forward to having a blast on an autobahn soon...............
