Gents,

I'm going on holiday for a month and need to mothball the Cerbie.

Any advice - especially re alarms etc draining the battery.

Always happy to help out a mate, just mail us the keys and I'll pop round and fire it up to charge the battery every couple of weeks. By the way how fast will it go? ;D

Cheers,

Nice one!

My advice is to buy yourself a battery conditioner. - I left my cerb for 2 months, with the occasional sunday run out and it has killed the battery!

As for fitting a new one, it was a bit a challenge!

Cheers

Innovations do a solar powered battery charger. Goes into the cigarette lighter I think. (However not much use in a dark garage.)

Other things off the top of my head: Parking in gear, with the handbrake off should stop the brakes sticking.
I've never managed to lock my car without the alarm - the manual says its possible, but I've never actually achieved it. But do you park in a secure place enough place to do this? and would it invalidate your insurance if the worse were to happen?

I left mine once for over five weeks once when I went on an extended holiday. But it was in a climate controlled car park at the time. Started first time!!

Hope these ramblings have helped.

Regulary leave my Cerb for periods while away on business and as long as the battery is good it should be no worries, agree with the suggestion of the handbrake off and when you rush back from your hols, drop the bags and run to the garage don't be too concerned about noisy brakes, this will be a light coating of rust on the discs gentle few miles and the rust will be cleared.

Have a good holiday

Used to get thro' a battery every year on my Lotus from long periods of inactivity. Had 2 have a new one on Cerb 1 month after purchase due to cold spell. Bought an OPTI-MATE III (£35) now. Small croc-clips or easy to install terminal 2 battery. Just plug the small mains powered device in and on set periods it does a test of battery level and tops up with a very small charge accordingly. Best thing is, The voltage drop sensor on the alarm isn't triggered by it. Loads of classic car buffs swear by em!

Don't have a problem with the battery but when I do leave it for periods of time I leave it in the garage in a carcoon. It blows up like a big ballon and has 2 fans that blow air around the car. Also I leave a few kilo's of silica gel in there as well.

Thanks guys - some food for thought there. By the way, Green V8S - could you also oblige by giving my supermodel girlfriend a seeing to while I'm away?
