Hi,
I turned my wipers on on Sunday in the dry (to move them a bit) and they really crawled along, when pushed, eventually to a halt. Now they wont work at all, I've tried flipping them up, but still nothing. I have a new "zz zz zz zz" noise in the car when driving with the wipers switched off or on, but the wipers wont move not even if I flip them up when they're on. Can anyone tell me how to fix them or whats up?
Cheers
Woody

Hi Woody,
Sounds like the wiper motor has seized. How do I know this, because mine has seized too.
If you are lucky it will only be the brushes inside and you can obtain a new set easily and rebuild your motor,
Otherwise like me, you face the prospect of a £200 bill for a new one.
I`m currently re-engineering mine to take a commercially available wiper motor as no- one seems to know from what car the TVR one was sourced, and good ole LUCAS are now dead in the wiper motor market!!

Good Luck

Morning Woody/Roy...I have bought most of the parts from the OE manufactures and re-manufacture these as was, to better than new standard.

Roy... give me a call 07956956042....I have had a HD failure and have no address book, so no longer have your numbers.

Hi Adrian,
I've just spoken with FFG, he says you are meeting him later, and I am meeting him tomorrow, I will try and check the fuse first and go from there, but I'm pushing it a bit as I've not much time left between then and now

I thought the wiper motor was from an Austin Montego.

Could do with some new bits in my motor too since the wipers crawl across the screen like asthmatic caterpillars at the moment...

Just had a look under. There's an earth coming from the WM unit to near the plenum, there is some type of bullet connector covered with sleeving in the middle of the earth wire that I cannot undo, but looks a bit dodgy so I wiggled that around and the wipers now work (altho a little slow probably coz its dry)! and no buzzing. Hopefully it won't re-occur.
I will replace the earth ASAP
Thanks for your help smile

Someone said the covered extra possible bullet connector in the middle of the earth wire could be a diode? Anyone know?
