Hi, has anyone ever developed a kit/component car based upon the Volvo 740/940?
It is after all a front engine, rear wheel drive, live axle with panhard rod anti tramp coil springs. Bomb proof and probably quick enough without the weight of a large saloon/estate body?
Reason: sitting here is a 940 estate, that won't sell at £500 so my mind started working.....

Check out www.locostbuilders.co.uk. I don't think there's anything they haven't tried.

Having owned and built a Caterham I have oft thought about a Locost, especially as I know Peter Dunn down in the NE of England. He (and his son)have built a few.
Think the Volvo bits are probably a bit heavy for the Locost, was thinking more of a) a 30's type special with hand built body; b) Cobra style kit; or c) maybe a Morgan style kit.
Or of course I could just reduce the price/sort out the MoT and sell the thing but you know how a PH mind works .......
