what are these like to live with ?
Discussion
I bought a porsche 996 carrera four with 50 k on the clock, ive had it 4 months and the gearbox has broken already and now i have a bill for 3-4 k.
Gutted ! I paid 23 k for my porka and Im thinking maybe I should have got an m12.
My plan is now to fix the porsche and sell it asap, im thinking of repalcing it with a Noble but I really cant be bothered with any more mechanical issues.
I like to drive my cars enthusiastically, clearly the porsche cant take this, will i be ok with the m12 ?
I would appreciate your comments
Kind regards

I have never had any major problems with mine, and i drive it quite hard sometimes. I seem to here about more and more Porsche’s going wrong but generally I think Porsche’s are better built!Gutted ! I paid 23 k for my porka and Im thinking maybe I should have got an m12.

Maybe learn to drive with more finesse? Aggression doesn't make you go any quicker!

The Noble is fantastic, but every now and then you'll get something slightly funny going on. For example I've had coolant leaks, boiling coolant, an oil leak, a smoky exhaust, a dead battery which is a pig to change, fuses going and the alternator belt literally fell off.
None massively expensive, but I often find myself worrying that the next problem might be.
Oh, plus the (open) diff broke which was expensive.
I think anyone can get big repair bills for a porsche/lotus/noble etc type of car and it looks all the bigger when you have bought the car after it has lost a lot of it's value.
I mean, if you bought a car for £90k ( new 997 price ? ) and the gearbox went and it was £3-4k to repair it, it would not looks so bad. But, that repair will cost the same on a car that you paid £23k for and then of course it looks much bigger ( because as a percentage of the purchase price it is ).
I remember reading on here once someone's comment about buying a used M12 as they could be picked up for around £25k so it was now affordable for them and the reply they got was it's still a £50k car with £50k car bills to match. And that's a very good thing to remember.
