Insurance on a young TVR owner?
Discussion
If it's a second car, then it is most reasonable. Infact mine is half the price of my everyday car. (£350 @ 23)
Being primary car I had quite a bit of trouble getting it below £3000, that didn't really matter which TVR i had (was looking at a Chimaera/Tuscan and a Cerbera at the time).

I'm 25 and I pay £220 for my S3. Strangely, my quotes for a 400SE were actually lower - they were down to about £180! I also live in a relatively dodgy area of North London and had little NCB to offer.
That's with Hagerty.
If do get a TVR - or any other specialist car for that matter - make sure you get a specialist insurer! I'd have to add a nought on the end of that figure to insure it with anyone mainstream. I was 24 (or more crucially, under 25) when I got it and none of some of the other companies I spoke to refused to believe Hagerty's price was genuine!

I was 25 when I got my Sagaris - £1200 a year through mannings, no ncb and 1 small ban - limited to 6500 miles a year.
Mannings also took into consideration what other cars I had previously owned and my daily drive was also considered as high performance which seemed to give them more confidence when quoting me.
A manning and A Plan seem to be the best for competitive quotes in my experience.

23, Cerb £900.
And here is me thinking that I had a good deal at £1200 on my Tam at 25 (3 points, 5yrs NCB)! Who are you with?
Same as above, they seemed to take in to consideration what else I was driving and what I had driven previously.

Are you guys all using them as your only car?
I know you're running rather quicker, more modern machinery than my S3, on the whole, but the prices seem innordinately different. Hagerty were happy to insure me on a Griff or 400SE for not much more (actually less in the case of the wedge...) than my 'entry level' TVR.

Got my Chim 500 at 24...
Its a second car and Hagerty charge me less than £300. Happy days.
Garaged and limited to 5,000 miles but that's not been a problem yet.
Had 3 points in June 2005 - how many years is it till you can get points removed?
Think it might be 3 but can't remember - and insurance companies seem to ask about convictions in the previous 5 years so is there any point having points removed?!?
