Getting the Tuscan

I have had the P&J a 2000 Tuscan 4L for about a month now and because it had not been used much before and had some work done prior to purchase, I have been taking it very easy. I have also been checking all the levels every trip and watching the oil and water temp like a hawk! I am happy to report everything seems to be just fine and she even survived torrential rain at the East Anglian Piston Heads meet, without a hiccup.
I was finding on Norfolk roads it handled like a jacked up Morris Minor on cross plies (don't ask!) at about 60, wandering in and out of the truck ruts and falling off the camber but last night I got her nicely warmed up and gradually gave it "some beans" as you say and it all started to come together rather well. Some people on here seem to suggest the handling is worse at higher speeds, but I found exactly the opposite. The faster we went the more planted and more stable she became.
It is certainly a very different car to the the Chimaera, but IMHO they compliment each other rather nicely? The Tuscan would be the car of choice for long motorway drives and the Chimaera for blasting up to the coast.

Have you (or previous owners) done anything to upgrade the suspension? Mine is a 2000 model too, and it was quite frankly frightening sometimes. Mid corner bumps were horiffic!
I got a full geometry set up, which made a big difference. I then got Gaz Gold shocks and new springs fitted, which made an equally big difference. These were fitted along with Steve Heath rose jointed ARB drop links, but I suspect the bulk of the improvement came from the shocks.
In short, for <£1000 you can make enormous improvements to the handling of the Tuscan.

I can't say and the previous owner didn't seem to know much, it was advertised as a 3.6 V6!!! in fact all documentation indicates it is a 4L.
It is a 2 owner car, but I only have the bills from the last owner from August 2005 when it had done 8700 miles. It has had loads of money spent on it, including the brake upgrade and 18" spiders with new bridgestone potenza S03's. Everything underneath is covered in Waxoyl, the springs and dampers could have been replaced early on I suppose, though I can see the spring seats are adjustable and the dampers look black? I have phoned Cheshire TVR from whom the previous owner purchased it but they could not be of much help, which is purely understandable.
Haven't had much time to even clean the interior, carpets or anything yet.
Anyway, hopefully at 24,000 miles it is now a well sorted car.

It is being serviced and MOT'd next month so will add that to the list of things for them to consider.
It had the 24,000 mile service last year at 22,600 and then another check over prior to sale, so hopefully as it has only covered 1400 miles this year it won't need too much doing to it.
