oil pressure recently went full scale after a 200 mile run, I have disconnected the wire to it and with the ignition on it shows 0 psi , when wire connected it shows about 80 psi with ignition on , when running over 90 psi , normal pressure is about 45 psi and the cars a 98 serp 450

I am guessing the sender unit is fubar , is there any other checks I should do to confirm and does anyone know what part number, compatability with land rover, where I can purchase one etc etc

From the "Bible" : Many different types of sender unit have been used - it is easier to get one from a TVR dealer.

Try www.tvrcarparts.com - Neil will know which one by your VIN/Engine number or year of make.

Hi.
I had the same problem and thought I could match up the sender from a rangerover this did work, but it was the wrong way around! The gauge showed 80 psi at tick over and fell to 30 psi when revs rose.

I had the old metal can type sender that had failed so decided to take it apart. Which was very simple just need a small screwdriver and a soldering iron. Turned out that a tiny screw had vibrated loose inside. was easy to repair and is back on the car working well.

I wish I had taken it apart before I had spent the 16 quid on a new (wrong) one.
