Safety cars should be banned... there's just no need for them at all. They should just use waved yellows - I simply can't see the point of messing up the whole race by putting a ridiculously slow car out on the track.
It's getting silly now, it won't be long before they're putting safety cars out because a tear-off hasn't made its way to the side of the track.

I haven't figured how it can be a "safety" car when cars are allowed to pass it and drive faster to catch up with the back of the train. If it needs to be there and the speed it goes at is safe, then how can cars be allowed to go faster than it? Overall though, I agree that in general terms it should not be needed and the current rules regarding pit stops and the safety car are crazy, messing up races.
It's all about TV money though, prior to the safety car introduction races were stopped to clear up major accidents which made races overrun and therefore messed up TV schedules. No stoppages now so Bernie can offer a clearer package and charge more.

The problem is that without the safety car, the pace is dictated by the leading car. Take a look back to Fuji last season- cars were falling off the road even at a slow pace, visibility was sod all. Hamilton at the front would have had fantastic visibility and shot off into the distance, and I doubt it would have taken many laps to catch up the cars at the back. It's getting silly now, it won't be long before they're putting safety cars out because a tear-off hasn't made its way to the side of the track.

Not to mention that at times when there are marshalls on the track, you're better off trusting a pace car to set the line and pace than a bunch of racers.
The pit lane situation is daft at the moment, but I'm not convinced the answer is to remove the safety car.
It will be dry for the race - one of my team is out there at the moment
Might be damp today for practice - slight chance tomorrow - but dry for the race
But the do need to sort the safety car issue - the problem is that when it's deployed it's always going to screw up the race or make it - depending on the circumstances
