Has anyone else found the ignition key lock sometimes stays jammed when trying to turn the key... only after several attempts it decides to release as normal and allows you to turn the key to start the engine...

Yes, mine almost jammed completely and was replaced under warranty. Get it done asap as they key could either break or the ignition jam up completely.

The problem with the ignition key and barrel almost caused me to have heart attack! Got saggy home after hot run and found i couldnt turn off. With a bit more pressure applied ( what else could i do? )the key broke off in the ignition with the engine still running. After severe panic attack, i calmed down and remembered to remove the fuses- they are identified quite well in the hand book after first stalling the engine. Fault was fixed by dealer very quickly, but would strongly advise checking/replacing if in doubt.

Hi Guys
Just a point to make before you go to alot of expense, i had the same problem and told my dealer. He suggested that some times the barrels "dry up" and to lightly coat the key in engine oil and put back in barrel. I have not had a problem since and now works like clockwork. Much cheaper option and a good shout for my dealer. Hope its that simple for you
cheers

Sorry, i forgot to mention that i also applied oil to the key virtually from day one as it seemed stiff when i took delivery. The new barrel and key now fitted is miles smoother and much better action, indicating that there was obviously a problem to start with. I also had a tuscan before the sagaris and cant remember a problem with that key/barrel, and would still highly recommend checking, as when the key breaks off, believe me, the panic sets in!

I had the same problem and my dealer told me I needed a new barrel. But he could replace it in time for a trip to france so I rang around and a very nice chap from G and M told me to squirt WD40 into the hole. Worked perfectly and havent had any trouble since.

Just started experiencing Ignition barrel locking over the last few weeks. Unfortunately car is out of warranty!! Sprayed lock with a little lubricant and matters have improved. Will just have to wait and see!!
