Around my area there is a type of mobile van that uses fixed sites I wrote to RA to see if these sites are covered here is my poorly written question and their reply....

Hello,

I have a road angel and I am extremely pleased with it. I have a
question
in my area they are using more and more mobile vans! these vans plug
into posts and wires already fitted under the tarmac and the locations
are suposedly published according to the camera partnership website.

Do you add these type of "mobile" locations to your database. I live in
shropshire I see them all the time!

Regards

Phil

Dear Phil

These locations are called DS2 sites. We are currently collating this
database and will be releasing it soon.

Regards

So there you have it they will be on there soon

Where in the country are you/your DS2 strips??????

All the DS2 (TTS) strips and posts round mt way
haven't been used in years, due to the popularity of Laser Video systems.

I ran over a set of DS2 (TTS) strips today on the A283 (Surrey) on my bike, (not plugged in). I did a U turn and when back for a closer look and took a view snaps with my digital camera.

The strips were starting come out the tarmac and the post was rusty - looked like it hadn't been used in years.

NOTE:

DS2/TSS strips are a PERMANENT feature and use 3 strips set in the road and a small post next to it. They are NOT to be confused with the 2 rubber strips temporarily nailed to the road to count cars.

Cheers.

Web Watcher.

I live on Shropshire too and read on the camera club's website that they use these strips in the road combined with video (weren't they a Truvelo product?). There was no reference to laser which I think is good news.

So is that confirmation that Shropshire are planning to use the strips and video?

noooooooooooooooooooo! not on the a283,i use that road to go to selsey and i prefer it to the usual a3 journey.the wife refers to it as 'shit yourself alley' as a few years ago i 'forgot' about the n-bend at the end of the straight thats after the right hand turning for goodwood and when i did remember it i just managed to scrub the speed down to 90.that set of corners was one hell of a white knuckle ride!

then again tbh i have never come across a cop using a speed gun on that road, even though i have seen a few cars tear down duncton hill and overshooting the corner at the bottom and ending up going straight on.

The A452 between the A45 and Balsall common has these DS2 strips recently installed in the last 12 months. There are speed camera warning signs along this stretch of Dual carriageway, and I have seen police sat in the pub car park presumably catching speeders.
