Anybody selling online with osCommerce software?

We've taken over an almost dormant business and a few sales have gone through over the past three months.

Today, we've received a payment via Protx, but the sale has not appeared on the website. All customer details are there, via Protx.

Anybody else had a similar problem?

Best to ask on the OS c forums chap, all the dev's lurk there.

Don't use Monster templates and ask for help on those boards tho... they get most upset

One of our customers is, and they stopped recieving order's in the site at the end of april, but the money is still going into their account. They use HSBC.

Another reason I hate OSCommerce.

I use OSCommerce for a high turnover/relatively low transaction value site that supports one of my businesses. Considering it is FREE you can't really complain... im very impressed with the low number of bugs actually. BTW I only accept payments through paypal (regular & express).

I use oscommerce and protx, you probably need to update the protx module installed on your oscommerce. It used to do this around the time that secure code and stuff came out. Do a search for protx direct or protx 2.0 on oscommerces website.

Personally I'd use ZenCart, it was forked from osC a long time ago and had the most serious bugs fixed - osC is one of the buggiest pieces of software I've had the pleasure of dealing with, along with phpBB, had no end of customers who have used it, get their sites defaced etc.

I've had a very good experience with osCommerce for my sex-shop site (see profile forum pervs!), but then as a developer by trade I've not been afraid to get my hands dirty in the code.

I don't use ProtX though; PayPal (previously) and NOCHEX mostly.

I looked at ZenCart but it looked bloody awful by comparison.

Have seen similar problems using Worldpay. This can happen if your web server is having issues when WP attempts to call back after having processed the customer's payment.

We had a custom screen developed into osCommerce to allow orphan orders of this type to be matched manually if this problem occurred smile

Os C is hardcore and takes too much time up, need a full dev for a serious business

Looked at 3dCube cart amd read about Zen

All the guys doing e-coms I know go for Cube/Osc - BUT monster templates are a nightmare to use and theres so many changes add on-s with osc it seems a full time job to keep track..

Cube seems very solid and very easy to use, the only basrtstead was setting up the the
Zend op and/or ioncube installs on hosting site as need root access and ssh, was a nightmare to sort..

We need to make money and cubecart looks great out the box and easy to change

Try the free 30 day trial of cubecart

I'd agree with the full time dev, the only way one of our customers was able to keep their store running, was to pay someone to practically re-write osC, as it wouldn't scale any further without killing their servers - Some of the SQL was the worst I'd ever seen. Their store runs like a dream now and has grown several fold on the same hardware.

Can any of them act in revers?
As in buy items from cusomers rather than sell?

Small product ranges fixed prices, admin fee for each purchase etc.

That's nothing to do with osCommerce - it's HSBC and the crappy integration between it and osCommerce.
It's a pig to set up and requires a number of customisations and tweaks.
