Meta Alarm Problems

Hope someone can help with this...
My S1 Elise has a Meta M99T2 (alarm) and an M36T2 (immobiliser) fitted and the alarm seems to be going off randomly. It goes off even when the microwave sensor is disabled (arm it with the button held down) and even occasionally goes off whilst driving.
According to the documentation I have its supposed to flash when the alarm has gone off to say whats been trggered - mine doesnt. I even tested the alarm by arming it then opening all the doors/boot/bonnet - it didnt go off. Is there a way of resetting the alarm completely, like a "reset to factory defaults" button? Oddly enough, the immobiliser works fine - arms and disarms with the fob as normal.
Whats the verdict - is the main alarm unit dead or could it be something else?
