I've just fitted New upper and rear Wishbones with poly bushes. Now that I have come to fit the top of the upright/hub assy to the upper wishbone it isn't lining up correctly.
As you an see from the photo, the upright needs to be levered over about 5mm to slot in.
Is this normal and it's just a question of using a bit of brute force and levering it in, or have I missed something somewhere, and there is some 'trick' to getting it in. I'm worried because I would hve thought everything should have aligned perfectly.

they rarely line up perfectly, but yours is quite bad. I can't see how you could build anything bush-wise wrong to get it so far out so we've got to assume your lower wishbone is slightly warped. You could try and straighten it, or get a big bar in to align the top bush. There will always be a sideways thrust on the top bush because of having the spring/damper mounted at one side (the front) of the wishbone so you'll never get it thrust-free in use anyway.

Cheers Jules - That was quick! That makes sense to me, becauase the new bushes are in perfectly. The lower wishbone looked fine, but I didn't take any precise meausurements of it. Are saying use a big bar and some brute force to lever the upright into the top wishbone?

yes sometimes a big bar is what you need smile The more elegant way of doing it would be to bend the lower wishbone straight again or even better replace it(it should line up if everything is square, but as I say the lower wishbone is always trying to pivot about the lower damper mounting, the location of the top of the hub into the upper wishbone should prevent it, but there's sufficient squish in the bushes to allow some movement. Indeed I believe the movement of the upper wishbone is responsible for alot of wheel hop issuses on TVRs, it's not got a wide enough base and is not capable of sufficiently locating the upper hub mount fore/aft, it's just a hunch though, got no data to prove it)
