'98 Chim Air Filter

Just had a poke about at my Chim following the advice of my faulty siren (thanks for your replies - you were all correct it's knackered)and came across the air filter behind the front plate....trouble is the whole thing is almost entirely saturated in an oil like, very clean - no smell, (almost olive oil) state?! Should it be like this? If I got a replacement where from? K&N? Or Pipercross? What do you think? Cheers
